Archistar is thrilled to announce that we’ve been selected by the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) to participate in the Buildings Tech Lab Challenge.
Launched in July 2024 by the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) and the Partnership Fund for New York City, the Building Tech Lab aims to test innovative technology solutions that will help the DOB make New York City buildings safer places to live, work, and build.
Addressing the Challenges of NYC’s Built Environment
New York City is one of the biggest cities and is home to almost 1.1 million buildings. Improving safety, sustainability, and efficiency for those who regulate this built environment proves quite the challenge.
The Building Tech Lab aims to see how the DOB can better manage internal processes to expedite permitting processes, building inspections, code reviews, and enforcement initiatives. And explore how they can better utilize existing data to automate operations and increase staff capacity.
Archistar has been selected to collaborate with the New York City Department of Buildings to tackle these objectives in proof-of-concept projects.
Archistar’s Pioneering Role in the Challenge
We’re providing an AI Software tool to help government and developers streamline compliance checks by instantly checking proposed building designs against up-to-date local bylaws and building regulations, which saves time and minimizes construction delays and risk.
Over the next eight weeks, Archistar will be collaborating closely with the DOB to refine and test our solution to see how this can help developers and government agencies in New York City move faster, reduce risk, and build smarter.
This is a huge step towards scaling AI-driven compliance solutions in one of the world’s most complex urban environments. And we look forward to shaping the future of digital permitting and compliance in New York and beyond.
